Celebrating the super women of Rajasthan

February 20, 2020

Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) are trained by Seva Mandir to care for pregnant women and perform deliveries in areas where there are barriers to reaching hospitals. TBAs live and work in the 152 villages where they work, and delivered care to 5,500 women in the last calendar year. I met and photographed these phenomenal women, telling the stories of the incredible impact they make, to ensure the funding for this programme is continued.

Seva Mandir is a development NGO working in Northern India. Seva Mandir supports cohesive and inclusive communities through the creation of democratic forums spanning gender, socio-economic divides and castes to encourage self-governance. This work underpins all of Seva Mandir’s work - from education and health to natural resource management.
